Expressions Entertainment | Since 1985 :
The amount of djs within the Bay Area community is prolific and many can boast of great credentials and awards won throughout the world. This was the vision of Expressions Entertainment before the present day’s more fine-tuned era.
Often spoken as a pioneering chapter within the 1980’s DJ showcase scene, the collective found innovative ways to promote their growing events, djs / sound systems and crew. Being the first at such simple ideas as lowering the standard 8.5x11 flyer to pocket-sized cards; to color coding various cities‘ promo material to trace their clientele, helped them gain a more organized approach, mass appeal, thus leading to its current infrastructure.
They may be noted as one of the first to bring the art of scratch into the latter days’ predominantly mix-oriented battle scene, which gave birth to the highly praised and debated battle between then up-and-coming djs; Dj Qbert of LiveStyle and Jazzy Jim of Skyway Soundz at Expressions Rocks Your World 1989. With such a platform, the craft of party-rocking with power mixes and the crowd awing scratch set left both judges and crowd baffled. Leaving their mark within the showcase / battle scene, Expressions embarked into the SF nightlife, bringing an arsenal of djs into the clubs that were often recognized as restricted stomping grounds for radio disc jockeys. This set a new trend and opened the doors for both promoters and djs alike.
Today, the tradition lives on with a full roster of djs with a strong presence and a sound / lighting system serving engagements on both a consumer and corporate level. In parallel, Expressions is responsible for private/public event coordination on several levels, as well as serving board-members for 501(c) Non-Profit Filipino-American Heritage Appreciation Project based in San Jose, CA. Proudly known for it's premiere event titled StreetJamâ„¢.
In recent news, Expressions Management is excited to provide its services as a full talent management solution for a few select celebrities which will be announced at a later date.
