This mix is about remembering a form of hip-hop dance that originated from the electro-funk of Afrika Bambaata & The Soul Sonic Force's 1982 seminal track "Planet Rock". This music was about a Latin percussion, heavy syncopation, and themes of romance, love, and partying. Mixing freestyle back in the day was great fun besides the controversy at my fraternity with some of my brothers complaining about not enough so called white music was not being mixed. When I was mixing this music, my thoughts were that this was popular with Latinos, blacks and whites. This music was supposed to be the filler that connected all the styles that I was mixing to keep the floor crowded. This is dedicated to those days back at my fraternity at Cal.
