“The influence of the Beat Bangaz as a collective and individually cannot be measured across the African hip hop landscape. As a collective and individually the Beat Bangaz (Ready D, E20, Azuhl) boasts with careers that spans more than two decades within the field of hip hop and DJ’ing. The Pioneering African DJ collective has it’s roots within the Cape Town hip hop culture that emerged in the early 80’s and the group has officially formed in the 90’s after Ready D’s successful career as a battle DJ competing in the prestigious Technics DMC’s locally and abroad in the US, London and France. Ever since it’s inception, Beat Bangaz’s missio has been to promote and elevate the art of DJ’ing through mix shows, mixtapes, workshops and albums. With a track record consolidated in international tours, SA and African Tours, Radio, Television, Clubs, Music production, Mixtapes, Live Bands, Seminars, Expo’s and workshops.
The group has made numerous club performances across South Africa as well as music festivals like Oppiekoppie, Flux Festival, KKNK, Woodstock, Rand Easter Show and numerous international music festivals like Pukkelpop and more. As facilitators on various community programs, university events and international music events like the REDBULL MUSIC ACADEMY and the SOUTH AFRICAN MUSIC CONFERENCE to name a few the group is expanding their ever evolving role DJs to that as educators as well.
Individually the group has contributed their talents to countless national and international musicians and are members of international hip hop group’s P.O.C. (Prophets of the City) and B.V.K. (Brasse Vannie Kaap) irrespectively. Beatbangaz also has been hosting their own event called “Night Of the Beatbangaz†that has been running since 2001 which is an hip hop event which also serves as a platform for up and coming deejays. Ready D currently holds on his own radio show on GoodHope Fm where he regularly features Beat Bangaz. They are also trainees and owners of their own DJ facility known as Scratch Lab, conducting DJ and production courses.
