This mix was total random chance, and it might be my favorite of "the Bonnaroo sessions" so far.
Got knocked out of a poker tournament and was home earlier than expected. I went to remix a small part of a previous mix before heading to bed. Felt so good that I decided to make a new mix (even though it was quite late on a work night). I just LOVE the way this one came out.
Diverse music, yet it all seems to flow together wonderfully. Every time I listen to it I catch something new, there is a tremendous amount of depth to these songs and the flow in general.
It was impossible trying to pick the best of these with so many to choose from. Other than "The Internet" track (which is just for fun), the lyrics are truly outstanding. The chorus from Phish's "Wading in the velvet sea" was actually on my wedding album (and it didn't even make a "high five"). And its crazy to have to leave the Roots and Ben Folds songs out of the tops as well. But you have to fit each into the context of the one mix rather than stand alone. This also reinforces how Blind Pilot has moved so much higher into my "must watch at Bonnaroo" list, and how surprisingly good "fun." really is.
At any rate, this might be the shortest mix I have ever done. But that just makes it all the easier to keep on repeat:-)

Picture is from "Freelance Whales" on the Sonic Stage at Bonnaroo last year. First they killed thier tent set on Thursday, then the changed it up and blew us away on the acoustic stage then next day as well. Takes a lot to get me to miss a Warren Haynes anything (one of my favorite guitarists in the world), but it was worth passing part of his set up for this show.
