Here's my tribute to the late Robin Gibb, a true musical legend. This mix contains only material of Robin Gibb's solo work; I will do a Bee Gees tribute mix of all their hits soon.. I've been a huge fan of the Bee Gees ever since I can remember, growing up on their music and getting to know and love their work from the 60s & 70s when I wasn't around, as well as their music from the late 80s into the 2000s. The first half of the mix contains his more uptempo songs from the 1980s, which is the decade where he released the most solo material with 3 albums (1 solo album in 1970) - the Bee Gees were still together as a group during this time. Most of his 80s work has that New Wave/synthpop sound, while some even have that freestyle vibe like 'Diamonds' and 'Secret Agent'. My fave songs are 'You Don't Say Us Anymore', 'Juliet' and the hugely popular 'Boys Do Fall In Love' which is one of the biggest and most well-known New Wave hits in the Philippines. The mix later focuses on Robin's mellow side with ballads from the 80s and 2000s, including his cover of the Everly Brothers/Nazareth classic 'Love Hurts' from 2003, plus two of his 60s hits including his first huge solo success 'Saved By The Bell' from 1969. The mix ends with the beautiful 'Don't Cry Alone', his most recent song from 2012. My fave ballads are 'Gone With The Wind', 'Kathy's Gone' and 'Don't Cry Alone'. Thank you Bee Gees for your astounding talent in music, truly one of the biggest bands in pop history, and thank you for all the wonderful memories you have given us through five decades.
