DJ Kamikaze's Bio
When DJ Kamikaze was a little boy, he would create mixtapes using cassette tapes and recording songs from the radio, always leaving people with a wow factor. From songs of Michael Jackson, Madonna, AeroSmith, Guns and Roses, Bob Marley and more, he would give out his mixtapes to spread love for mixed music. Growing up from a broken home on Kaua'i, he strived to become something, so he could leave his family's lifestyle, turning him initially in DJ Shaun Michaels, who took the industry by storm on Kaua'i and made a name for himself on the air waves of 3 radio stations, MCing for concerts, clubs and businesses as well as DJing. In his first year he took number one and two in ratings during his rookie for two stations, taking out the competitor who was number one for 15 years as an assistant program director, which took him 2 months to attain. Ironically he ends up working for his competition on another island, unknowingly. "Play and or mix what the people need, not what the dj wants..." he says.
Feeling achieved he moved to Maui after 3 years of sevice wanting another challenge with no leads. Starting at a the bottom, he did work trades, slept in his car often, and went through many hardships, but faith came his way and got right back into the industry. He also changed his DJ name to DJ Kamikaze, feeling like it portayed his image more, as he is a risk taker, adventurer, and as many would call him, a dust in the wind.
He has filled many club and party venues on the island of Maui like the historical Ladies Night at Casanova's Makawao, Charlies in Pa'ia, Oceans night club in Kihei. Performed also for major and minor concerts. Currently he is an on air talent for Q103(103.3, 103.7 and 104.7) with his mixtape running on which can be heard on the islands Oahu, Maui, Big Island and Moloka'i, he also produces for 5 radio stations, both commercials and imaging.
His goals include touring the world DJing 10k audiences, becoming world famous on the air, and produce beats for major artists. Expect DJ Kamikaze to be the next DJ Tiesto with Timbaland combined in the future.
