DJ Big Ed is a native from the Big D (Detroit). A DJ since 1978 and influenced by Detroit's own Electifying Mojo and The Wizard. First started out hosting house parties. DJ Big Ed's Bio
DJ Big Ed is a native from the Big D (Detroit). A DJ since 1978 and influenced by Detroit's own Electifying Mojo and The Wizard. First started out hosting house parties. Along with the house parties he began playing lawn and pool parties. Was the head DJ for a local teen social group that sponsored house and youth parties.
In 1984 he began playing as a house DJ in a hot nightclub in Germany frequented by the military, their family members and the locals. Upon returning to the U.S. in 1986 he began playing at various locations in the U.S. in nightclubs and private parties. Besides playing in Germany he played in Italy, Macedonia, and Bosnia on various other occassions. Primarily mixed Hip-Hop, Rap, Dance, House, Soul, R&B, Funk, Pop.
Also in 1984 he begin recording two series of tapes the Original Mixed Jams Tapes and the Cooling Out Period, The Original Mixed Jams Tapes were a compilation of Hip-Hop, Rap, Dance, House, Soul, R&B, Funk, and Pop. The series has over 134 90-minute tapes. Now they are being remastered into 2 CDs (side A & B). Adding up to over 170 CDs.
The Cooling Out Period series were a compilation of slow jams and jazz. The series has over 40 90-minute tapes. Now they are being remastered into 2 CDs (side A & B). Adding up to over 80 CDs.
He is has a more current series called the Urban Club Mix. A minimum of six mixtapes per year. And the Mixtrumentals. A series of Hip Hop and R&B instrumental hits.
