Michael Sherman's Bio
Michael Sherman, was born, raised and currently resides in Seattle, Washington. Michael’s first experience of electronic/dance music was at the young age of 10, when he watched science fiction movies and listened to their soundtracks and score. Michael was encapsulated by the music, the sound and the atmospheric tones. At this moment, Michael needed more, and began to listen to every possible sci-fi soundtrack possible.
At 14 Michael discovered 70′s disco music from his Mother’s vinyl collection in the basement. While listening to 70′s dance music and sci-fi movie themes together, his friends didn’t understand and laughed. Michael continued to listen to that genre of music until 2001, when he and some close friends discovered the underground sound of Seattle, Michael was saved. This sound was all Michael imagined, and then began to listen, learn and dissect the music.
In 2002, Michael bought his first pair of turntables and mixer and started to listen to every possible genre that he could get his hands on. Michael influences were labels such as Saw recordings, Regress, Zero Tolerance, Tune Inn, and Release records to name a few. These were the sounds that Michael needed. Michael also studied, observed, and listened to every DJ possible. While the local scene was mainstream dance music, Michael was more into the dark, dirty and underground sounds.
In early 2003, Michael landed a spot on Groovetech radio in Seattle where he could express himself for what he loves. From there Michael started to play out regularly and honed his djing skills. Michael has been noted by top DJ’s locally to have a unique mixing style that is flawless in sound and creativeness. Michael style is not easily defined, but includes tech, techno, tech-house, progressive, minimal, electronic, experimental, and anything that makes you think and dance!
