JP Stanfield's Bio
Irish DJ / Producer
Jp’s love of dance music started at the very tender age of just 13 and he credits The Prodigy with giving him that first taste. He bought his first Technic 1210’sat only 17 and began his music career playing trance and ‘original’ hard house. His inspirations at the time were the likes of Tony De Vit, DJ Trix, Robbie Nelson and Mr Spring. By the turn of the 2000s Jp found himself listening more and more to house and progressive house with the likes of Deep Dish, Sasha, Steve Lawlor, John Digweed and Anthony Pappa filling his vinyl collection.
Jp’s first gig was playing in Spirit and since then has gone on to play in some of Ireland’s top clubs such as Tripod, Andrew’s Lane Theatre, Radio City, Blue Note, The Good Bits and Trinity Rooms, Limerick. He was also a resident for both Jack in the Box and DanceMafia.
Only last year Jp played alongside Wolfgang Gartner in the beautiful surrounds of Bellingham Castle for Velvet Electro with some of Ireland’s other finest names – John Gibbons and Belfast’s Jay Kay.
Jp took his mixing skills to a wider audience in 2009 when he entered the Facebook DJ Competition run by House Exclusive, UK. It was judged by Hard to Find Records Allister Whitehead, Mark Alexander and Attack & Decay amongst others. Jp was the only Irish entrant to be shortlisted and managed to reach the semi-finals of this competition.
In the past year Jp has turned his attentions to production and has spent hours in the studio self-teaching the skills required to make it has a producer. Although he his only in the early days he already has four tracks under his belt – Tension, Side Effect, Simpler and Move Your Body.
