This one was inspired by a find w/ my dear friend Judy Choi. We were at a summer carnival in Brooklyn and a church had a thrift store sale. Among the dusty crate of records I found "Sam Houston - the Tallest Texan" it was a record for schoolchildren that must have been played when the substitute teacher came in or on rainy days. It's full of racism, jingoism and inaccuracies -- this is what students were subject to listen to?

Anyway, any time I hear a record that makes my blood boil, I know it's time to make a mix out of it. This is crafted from that mix - live one track 80 minute mix, all layering done strictly w/ turntables.

It's the story of Sam Houston, and Texas' quest for independence. You can see that this is one of those mixes where I take the words given to me, and fly all over the map w/out ever leaving Texas behind. Enjoy...
