DJ Matthew Thomas is currently a Dubai based DJ with a flair for music and a driving passion to explode the senses. For over 20 years, he has been bringing his unique style of euphoria to the faces of thousands. Matthew plays music with a spiritual undertow. Strong melodies and harmonic beats, fused with driving basslines and chunky beats. Now creating events in the Middle East, matthew continues to explore ‘sound you can feel’.

Born in Kent in the United Kingdom back in 1972, Matthew’s aim from the beginning was to explore the boundaries of music. With a mother passionately into the Beatles and a father that enjoyed the classics, Matthew enjoyed an eclectic musical upbringing.

Matthew started spinning vinyl at the age of 15, cleaning cars to afford his first set of Technics 1210s. From there it was a gradual progression into the dance arena. With the explosion of underground music in the early 90’s, he saw himself being mentored by party organizers and DJs alike.

With this came the opportunity to spin at a variety of different venues across the UK. Miss Monneypennys, Leisure Lounge, The Fridge, The Telegraph, Dogstar, and Club Colosseum are just a few of the clubs. Promoters include Pickle Productions, Kane and Samsara. In addition, Matthew played at many of London's underground squat parties where his love for psytrance took his style to a new level.

Although always playing for fun, Matthew continues to push the boundaries of music, refusing to be boxed into one solitary musical genre.

Matthew’s DJ sets can explore the full spectrum. From fully charged euphoric ‘morning style’ psytrance , through to sublime drum and bass, Matthew continues to push the envelope.

Together with his fiancée Helen, the latest venture was born – bpm.

This underground party in Dubai sees a fusion of DJs and music come together in truly eclectic surroundings. It’s a venture that has been born out of passion and a desire to see the region evolve it’s understanding of music.

2010 promises to be a year of further exploration.
