This mix is a tribute to my homie DJ Kosuri's Alief crib where we 1st started getting into indie records, usually through Still Digging (when Witnes looked like Del of Hiero), Soundwaves (when Ciph and Russell worked there) and our mail orders from Fat Beats and Sandbox. Not a 'backpacker' mix since I didn't put any Atmosphere, Sage Francis, Eyedea or Anticon but more of the boom-bap era that put Stones Throw and Rawkus into the limelight. Features early production from DJ Khalil, Hi-Tek, Shawn J Period, the ARE, DJ Cipher, DJ Spinna, Necro, Kutmasta Kurt, Fanatik, Madlib, Da Beatminerz, etc. Big ups again to DJ Kosuri for the upload!
