Sixteen of the world’s best B-Boys, narrowed from an initial field of 73, competed on Wednesday, November 18  in the Red Bull BC One in New York City. The international event was MC’d by the Blastmaster himself, KRS-One and featured the extraordinary breakdance talents of performers from around the world.

In the end, Lilou from Lyon, France was crowned “The One”, claiming a second title since his BC One debut four years prior in Berlin.

The BC One website promises more videos of the event sometime this weekend, but for now enjoy the (awesome) highlight reel they up’d to YouTube.

Red Bull BC One is an annual international breakdancing series sponsored by the energy drink company Red Bull. It is an individual (or ‘one on one’) b-boy competition (as opposed to a crew competition). The main event is a knockout tournament featuring sixteen b-boys competing in one-on-one battles decided by a panel of five judges. The winners of worldwide regional knockout tournaments preceding the main event, along with the prior year’s top finishers as well as wild card selections, comprise the final group of 16.

The annual competition is held in a different international city and country each year. The very first showdown took place in 2004 in Biel, Switzerland, then Berlin in 2005, Sao Paulo in 2006, Johannesburg in 2007 and Paris in 2008. In 2009, the best B-Boys in the world returned to breakdancing’s birthplace in New York City at the famed Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan.
