Plan 9's Bio
Introduced to the genre from DJ Starscream aka Sid Wilson of Slipknot back in 1995, Tommie Emmi aka Plan 9 (formerly known as Kaoss) began his DJ career with the mash up and ragga sounds of jungle, releasing mix tapes on a constant basis and corrupting the minds of the midwest with the chaotic drum patterns emerging from the records he dropped on the decks to the dance floors people consumed. As the years went by and the genre progressed into different styles, so did Plan 9 – menacing towns repeatedly across the midwest, the southern states, the east coast, Canada and abroad, making himself known as one of the best in the midwest.
Having over a decade of experience in drum n bass, Plan 9 has accomplished many feats from interviews with Dara on the Breakbeat Science weekly web cast “Velocity” back in 1998, sharing line ups with such drum n bass icons as Dieselboy, Danny the Wildchild, AK1200, Phantom 45, DJ Reality & MC Rage, DJ Eye-D, Hive, Evol Intent, Bad Company, Klute, 12th Planet and many more. He continued to help out the midwest scene with the help of the NSMM, founded by dlux, t3mul3nt (OHM recordings) and himself in 1999 who were responsible for Omaha's first all hardcore / drum n bass event "Grillotron" in April of 1999 and by bringing the first UK drum n bass tour through the area (Trouble On Vinyl’s "Mission Control" Tour with DJ Reality & MC Rage) also in 1999. He has been a member of organizations such as Sonic Fury in Minneapolis, Sublunary Artist Management in Des Moines, Incognito Agency in Philly. His record labels, Cymbalism Recordings, Cymbalism Limited, Cymbalism Liquified and Cymbstep - the dubstep label he formed in 2008, have gained worldwide acceptance as one of the top drum n bass labels in the US over the past 10 years since conception with their steady flow of releases from some of the biggest names in the drum n bass and dubstep business and even landed him a mix cd of selected Cymbalism releases on the cover of one of the UK's biggest drum n bass magazines, Knowledge and also tunes onto Konami's Dance Dance Revolution video game! He is also responsible for the success of his monthly drum n bass event, “Decibel”, which has been running steadily for over 7 years straight and is the longest lasting monthly drum n bass event in Omaha and bringing in the best of the best from all over the world to perform.
With his flawless mixing, upfront track selection including releases months in advance before they hit the store shelves, showcasing various unreleased dubplate material and original production work, holding residencies in Omaha and with the launch his own record labels in 2003 and most recently branching out into the electro house genre as well, this midwest talent continues to explore new avenues in the genre he has supported for over 18 years.
