Rory PQ's Bio
Growing up in the suburbs just outside of Detroit, Rory has been involved with music from an early age. Spending his early years learning to play piano Rory grew an appreciation for music theory and rhythm. In the late 90’s Rory was introduced to electronic music while venturing to warehouse parties during Detroit’s underground music movement. Inspired by electronic music and turntablism, Rory set out DJing alongside Sub÷Divizion’s own D.J. Walker, Billy Jack and many others at house parties and local events.
In 2000 Rory enlisted into the United States Coast Guard. Based out of San Diego, Rory worked on a 378 foot ship which would sail the Pacific from the treacherous waters of the Bering Sea down to the beautiful coastlines of South America. Unable to bring his turntables with him while underway, Rory purchased a Roland 303 synthesizer and Cakewalk software then began teaching himself electronic music production. Soon after Rory’s music began taking shape, tragedy stuck. Involved in a tragic accident, Rory was left a quadriplegic, paralyzing him from the neck down. However, arming himself with Ableton Live, a Jazzmutant Lemur and the passion for music, Rory was able to use what functionality he had left in his arms and hands to pursue his musical endeavors.
Over the past few years, Rory has had an intense desire to master the art of Ableton Live. While exploring all sorts of strange production methods to keep exciting his senses, Rory has combined what he has learned along with experimentation to develop cutting-edge Ableton Live templates, instrument and FX racks. With his sights set on ways to enhance individual creativity, Rory passes on what he has learned to others through tutorial videos, one-2-one training, and local workshops that focus on the creation and mixing of electronic music utilizing computers. Rory strives to build a global community of musicians, DJs, producers, visual artists, and enthusiasts of all genres who share a genuine passion for music.
