Vinyl Junkie's Bio

REWIND BACK TO THE BEGINNING…
Discovered rave culture in April 1989 when in Ibiza for what was supposed to be a fortnight holiday. Little did he know that from this point forward, his life would never be the same again! On the night before he was due to board his flight back to Bristol he attended the Ku Club with a friend and so the honeymoon began. Needless to say John didn't board that plane the following day. He and his friend stayed behind and waved goodbye to the other 12 of their holiday making buddies, who couldn't understand why they had decided not to return home.
After a party fuelled summer of love spent on the 2 glorious islands of Ibiza and Tenerife John finally arrived back in Bristol in October with just one thing on his mind: "Where’s the next rave at?" A week later he went to “Sunrise Vs Back to the Future” in a hangar at Santa Pod Racecourse, totally blown away. The next 18 months is a blur, week in, week out it was party time. During this time he picked up a strong fascination about what was going on behind the decks and soon he had acquired a set of turntables and started buying records. THE FUSE WAS LIT...
FAST FORWARD TO THE PRESENT DAY…
After 20 years in the game Vinyl Junkie is currently resident DJ for the “Old Skool Legends” arena at Fantazia, as well as playing various one off slots around the country. He has spent the last 3 years studying towards a degree in “Creative Music Production and Technology” which he has just completed with first degree honours. This has taken up much of his time and as a result DJ bookings have been less than usual, but now with his studies out of the way, expect to see John on a lot more flyers, as well as seeing the re-launch of his Warehouse Wax label…
Recently mixed an album for Slipmatt & Billy Bunters “Can You Feel It Media” called FUTURE RAVE ANTHEMS 4, which reached number 1 in Trackitdowns Breaks chart and Number 2 in their overall album chart, topped only by Dead Mau5.
At last years Nu-Rave awards, John was the winner of the Music Scene award, for his contribution to the scene, and got 3rd place in the categories, best DJ and best album.
John will always be available to play Old Skool but he is also keen on pushing the new sounds of Future Jungle, J-Tek and Hardcore Breaks.
